How to prolong the vegetative state in an autoflower?

I have heard that autoflowers will start to trigger their flowering cycle once the tap root hits the bottom of the pot/growing medium.

1. Is there any truth to that?

2. If so, would one be able to start an autoflower in an easy plug pyramid that is resting on a large pot of super soil?

My thought is to prolong the veg, but to provide a starting medium that is nutrient free and then have it already linked to an enormous reserve of ready to rock nutrient loaded super soil. Trying to grow some monsters, and I know I've seen other growers with absolute jungles from the same autos I'm rocking, but with much more moderate results.

Any body got some knowledge/wisdom on this issue?

PLEASE, drop a pearl or two on us over here!

I've never ran the easy plugs before, but yes there is some truth to that but it's more about root pressure than it is the roots hitting the bottom of the container. Personally I run dwc and they get absolutely rediculous. For reference that back wall is a 10ft wall, there was 5 plants there but 1 of them is in the tent drying in that picture. Ended up with almost 8lb off of them.PXL_20250415_152755735.MP.webpPXL_20250415_150115379.MP.webpPXL_20250415_150122101.MP.webpPXL_20250421_194706896.PORTRAIT.webp

And then there was this monster, this was about 3-4 weeks out and it got just over 38oz, it was a summer run and temps kind of got away from us a little bit so it didn't really bulk up as awesome as we would've hoped or it would've yielded another 4-6oz easy.

That's what's UP! Absolute monsters in your closets! Ok, so if root pressure is the name of the game; I'm thinking the more pressure builds, the more the door closes on the vegetative cycle.

Would this be a correct assumption? And if so, how could I keep pressure lighter for longer when utilizing 5-7 gallon fabric pot?

I've no experience with the easy plug system either, but from watching Troy work absolute wonders with them I was thinking of trying to plop an easy plug pyramid on top of my super soil mix like I was saying. Maybe if I make sure to dial up the perlite and vermiculite ratio in the mix it could alleviate some root pressure?

Any and all thoughts welcome!

In soil you want it real fluffy and airy, 30% or so perelite/vermiculite and you don't want it to hot either, super soil generally isn't that great for autos unless you cut it down a good amount and make sure you're running plenty of benificials, you definitely want granular mychorhazae to mix in the soil, water soluble mychorhazae Incase you accidentally let it dry back to much, and then something like em1, organic rev, growganica microbe tea, or microbe life microbe tea.

Roger that! I use my soil amended notes at 1/4 strength in the potting mix, and then top dress around week 3 at 1/2 strength. I use Photosynthesis Plus and SLF-100 on weeks I don't brew tea, and Grean Bycicle's Happy Endings compost tea for my brew base. Big Foot mycorrhizae as powder and water soluble too boot!

How am I looking thus far?

Never messed with top dressings, autos are fast I use water soluble everything be it organics or salts so the plants get it when I give it to them, big foot is good I go back and forth between them and extreme gardening whatever is cheaper when I need more
